SM Science Discovery Center

I don't have a vivid recollection if I was able to visit the old Planetarium in Manila back in grade school or high school. What I remember so far is that I enjoyed visiting the Science Centrum (meron pa ba nito?) back in grade school (I remember it's somewhere in Manila since we visited the place after our visit at the Tahanang Walang Hagdanan).

Fast forward to 2008, I got too much fascinated about the idea of visiting the SM Science Discovery Center. It's probably because I think it's going to be a nostalgic experience but at the same time something new (since technology is far different now).

The SM Science Discovery Center has the following galleries:Life Clock, ImagePort, SMART Media City (where you can play some video games and access the internet), Transportation Nation (where there's a flight simulator), Grossology (yes, all about gross: pee, burp, etc.), Spaceship Earth, Virtual Reef (underwater experience of sorts), City Science, Robot Inc., Digital Planetarium (currently the featured show is "The Search for Life: Are We Alone" narrated by Harrison Ford), and Lego Mindstorm Robotics Center (which was closed during our visit). I think it's a place that kids will enjoy (5-10 years old maybe). It's not much complicated and not much amazing (maybe because I expected more and well I'm quite old) but enough to make the kids learn and appreciate Science. For teachers who are scouting for interesting places for field trips, I think the SM Science Discovery Center deserves to be included in your list.

Entrance is P330 (unlimited gallery access and 1 Planetarium show) for walk-in visitors. There are also other visit set-up.To know more about SM Science Discovery center, visit http://www.smsciencediscovery.com.
