Random Thoughts

(Due to about an hour spent in a church)

1. I just realized that prayers commonly recited are already ingrained in a person's memory regardless how long you have not said these prayers. While you try not to recite the prayer out loud, you just couldn't control your mind to silently join the praying crowd.

2. Part of the baptism ceremony is the rejection of sin (vis-a-vis Satan) and renewal of faith (at least for Catholic practice i don't know with others). The priest will recite some parts of the Apostle's Creed in a question manner and the parents and godparents are asked to respond out loud: "Opo, sumasampalataya kami" or "Opo, itinatakwil namin" (rejection of sins. Observing most of the baptism ceremony I attended, the priest would always react and force the parents and godparents to respond. Makes me think, Are they not responding out loud because they don't really agree with what the priest is telling them? Or do they find it a weird and stupid thing to answer out loud? Or they are just simply lazy?

3. For me the ceremony is all about tradition and less complication (as I've explained in an earlier post, should religion-less parents decide to send their children to sectarian schools: baptismal certificate is always necessary).

4. Bakit ganun, hindi naman ako church-goer but I know what kind of acceptable behavior I should maintain whenever I'm inside a church (not necessarily susunod sa practice nila pero yung hindi ka nangugulo). Pero bakit maraming mga usual church-goer or at least iyong nagsisimba paminsan-minsan pero hindi alam ang kind of behavior expected of them inside a church. Ang weird lang talaga. Say for instance, Catholics view baptism as a sacred ceremony. But how come the sacredness of the ceremony is neglected by those same people who are bringing their kids to be baptized? Naknakan nila ng ingay.

5. I always end up ranting whenever I visit a church.
