Skewed Reasonings Part II

I've been sending YM to friends, encouraging them to vote for Sonia Roco. So far, I've had good feedback. There was one friend who gave me a quite weird response. He asked me what position Mrs. Roco is running for (Gives you an idea how a lot of people are uninformed). He also asked me of Mrs. Roco's age. I answered his question but the usual curious that I am, I asked him why he wants to know Mrs. Roco's age. He said, "Ang tanda na pala niya. I'm up for younger ones eh. Ayoko na ng matanda kung baga if we look at it may corrupt sila. I'm not telling na si Sonia is corrupt diba but we cant also say na hindi siya corrupt."

My Response: "If the age will be your "sole" basis, lugi ka. while it can be assumed that older people are more corrupt since they are more exposed to "evil" deeds than the young ones, it's not safe to generalize that younger people are less corrupt. It's actually a matter of looking at the competence and the background (to know the character) of each candidate. I can tell you she's (Mrs. Roco) not corrupt because she's not a politiko unlike the young ones who have been in politics and have been involved in dirty deeds."

While it is understandable that younger people are perceived to be less corrupt, because they are still young and idealistic, people shouldn't base their vote on a candidate's age.

Meanwhile, is there such thing as "family vote"?

The entire family has agreed to vote for this mayoralty candidate. Well, again, I'm the exception. My father said, "Huwag mong sabihin mag-Dennis ka, dapat isang pamilya isang boto lang." Kalakohan na naman. I've the right to vote for that person whom I think can manage to make my town develop (change the perception of people about politics at "bata-bata" system).

Wow.

I just hope I've somehow educated him.

Maraming katulad niya.

Walang alam, walang pakialam.
