Managing Stress and Unleashing Creativity

For a quite stressful life (because of work and other responsnibilities), it's good to have an outlet to release the stress. One way of easing out our selves is through venturing in any arts and craft related activity. Of course, even if your work already requires creativity (like my work), it still useful to be having another avenue of exploring one's creativity.

Since grade school, I have been fascinated of creating fancy jewelry designs (though I'm not that fascinated of wearing accessories). It has been helpful to deviate from the demands in school.
In college, I've decided to make this venture more than just a hobby. I've invested some amount to make it a business. I remember that one of the first set of earrings I've sold was used by my classmate in her interview for a beauty pageant. Apparently, it is a healthy venture that could be very much satisfying.
At present, I still design fancy jewelries and have even shared the passion to a friend. It's still effective as a stress-reliever and as money-generating venture.
For those who'd want to start doing fancy jewelry crafts as a hobby and stress reliever as well as to those who are interested to venture in fancy jewelry craft business, I want to share my little knowledge of the business.
How do I design fancy jewelry?
It would be useful to be observant whenever you're watching TV. Look at what accesories the performers wear . From there, you'd have some ideas that you can execute.
You can also browse magazines and observe the accessories used by the models. There are also special magazines that are intended to provide different jewelry designs. Yet, they are quite expensive.

Of course, you may ask for the omnipresent Internet for sources. You can breeze through a lot of designs and even get tips and steps on how to craft different jewelery desings.
There are also some institutions that cater bead-making seminars. You can check out Business Maker Academy. You can also browse Pinoy Exchange for other links (Hobbies and Recreation section).
Where do I get materials?

If you're planning to make the designing as a hobby, bead shops in different malls would do. Like for example, you can visit Carolina's at SM Malls and Glorietta. They've several materials you can choose from. For a personal use, materials are considerably affordable. You may also try visiting the notions section of SM Malls that are usually located at the basement.
However, if you'd want to venture in this craft as a business, it's a requirement to find good and affordable stuff. Quiapo is the great place to find tons of materials for jewelry crafting that are very affordable. Most sell the materials in whole sale.
You can visit Wellmanson's. It has almost everything you'd need in starting the business. From beads, to wire, to strings, and whatnots, you'll get it there. You can also explore that street where Wellmanson's is located as there are other stores selling cheap wholesale jewelry-making materials.

Where to sell my products?
You can start selling your creations to your friends. That's the same thing I did back in college. If you're working, you can try selling your stuff to your officemates.
If you've gathered enough earnings, you can try selling in bazaars and even venture into consignment agreements at different boutiques and malls. I guess Maldita, Sari-Sari, and SM accept consignment set-up.
Christmas is just a few months away. Thus, venturing in bazaars will be a sure hit. But, you've to make sure that you've other products to sell as I am not sure if you'll be able to have a break-even or earn from selling accessories alone. Make sure that you've other products to sell that can be aligned with accesories.
You can also set-up a sort of on-line store for your products. You can get a free website account or even a blog to post pictures and price list of your products.Try advertising your site via forums (i.e. pinoyexchange) or e-groups.
Unleash the creativity in you and manage your stress. Indulge in crafting beaded jewelries.
