May blue, green, at red. Nakakatawa pero na-iimagine ko tuloy ang paghahalo ng Bioman, Shaider, and Masked Rider. Mga pinoy talaga.

Oh well, malamang manood pa rin ako (paminsan-minsan). Only for Papa Dennis. Mwahahhahaah!

Marimar

I went home a bit early yesterday to be able to catch the premier of Marimar (Of course, it's not the sole reason). I must admit that I was a high school girl who got fascinated of watching telenovelas back then. Honestly, I'm familiar with all the telenovelas where Thalia is the lead (I even have a copy of her album - in casette tape. But hey, she has a good Spanish version of "Journey to the Past").

Anyway, I was eager to watch not because I've plans of becoming an avid viewer of the show. I just want to see GMA7's execution of the show. Apparently, the only difference of the Marimar remake is its setting - Philippine Setting. But the story is pretty much the same -- as well as the conversation. What's the use of having a remake of a foreign show that was actually "tagalized"?
It's quite sad that we are way too far in terms of the quality of TV shows. And do you think adaptation like Marimar is helping the TV industry improve (in terms of quality)?
Napuna niyo ba ito sa Pinoy Marimar?

Garapal

It's given, movies and TV shows are utilized in advertising. Like for example, cans of corned beef (Purefoods) were displayed in Kris Aquino's kitchen cabinet in "Feung Shui". Orocan products were displayed in Aiai's store in "My Juan and Only." But advertising in tonight's episode of Asian Treasures was just so garapal.

> Gio Alvarez was making a webcall. Suddenly, Smart Bro's Webpage appeared on his laptops' screen. Anong connect ng webpage ng Smart Bro sa pag-web call niya? Di ka naman makakapag-web call through that website.

> Ella V. ran out of cash to pay for her taxi fare. She instead paid the driver through Smart Money.

Ella V : Magkano po?
Driver: P250
Ella V : Ay P200 lang ang pera ko (Biglang nalaglag ang Smart Money na card). Meron ho ba kayong Smart Money?
Driver: Meron
Ella V: Papadala ko na lang dun ang kulang na bayad. (Complete spiel on how to pay via Smart Money)

> After that scene, Ella V. ran out of load and asked Gina Alajar for a load. Imagine all the steps were shown (Ella's text asking for load -- Gina receiving the ask-a-load text then replying -- Ella receiving the load).

Subtle advertising in TV shows is fine. It's acceptable if the situation is apt to pitch those products or services. But what happened in tonight's episode of Asian Treasure didn't give justice to the show. While they tried to create opportunities for placing these ads, it was so trying-hard and so well, garapal.

Time Space Warp, Ngayon Din!

When I saw Shaider's teaser in GMA, I got so excited. I couldn't help but to be a bit nostalgic. Yeah, batang Shaider at Bioman ako (But no, never 'kong pinangarap na maging si Annie). My Sundays weren't complete without watching Bioman and Shaider (actually, mas priority ko ang Bioman. And yes, pinangarap kong maging si Yellow Four - the archer not the photographer at oo, naging crush ko si Kenny-Red One). Thus, a re-run of this show (something you're passionate of during your childhood) is something to look forward to. While there are clips of Shaider (and Bioman - entire episodes in Youtube, pinanood ko ito ulit), it's still different to have an opportunity to watch it again on TV (even share the Shaider experience with your niece or nephew).

All the while I thought it would be a re-run of the Filipino-dubbed Shaider. But no! It's going to be a Filipino Version of it. Yeah, a la Lupin. I don't know what to feel about it. While I think Marky Cielo is good enough to play as Alexis (Shaider), I don't see the need for a local remake. It seems that GMA is into so much remake - e.g. Sine Novela, at ang napipintong tagalog version ng Marimar! Oh well, I just hope they do justice to this show. Else, lagot sila sa mga 80's kids.

I still want this Biorobot toy. Does anyone know where can I get this toy locally (yung mura lang siyempre)? Meron kaya nito sa collectibles fair or toy trade shows?

Showgirls on Noontime

Had a chance to watch some portions of Eat Bulaga last Saturday. I was actually interested in seeing former EB contestants (It's not a secret to people I know that I joined an EB contest in the late 80's.) Because I had a lot of household chores to finish (domesticated), I missed the Dabarkads On the Spot portion (that featured former contestants) and instead caught the showdown of Sexbomb and EB Babe.

I just can't resist to react.

There's nothing wrong about dancing and dance showdown, especially if the dance showdown or the dance performance is wholesome (Streetboys vs. Maneuvers). Meanwhile, if the showdown is not that wholesome, it should be shown late night (I'm an avid viewer of "Shall We Dance").

That's why the Sexbomb vs. EB Babe Showdown is something undesirable. How can a showdown between groups of sexy dancers be wholesome?

The presence of sexy dancers [Sexbomb (then) and EB Babes (now)] in a noontime variety show alone is already improper. A noontime show should cater to family and young audience but seeing sexy dancers in almost naked outfit on noontime shows (both EB and Wowowee) is not appropriate.

A showdown of two groups of sexy dancers on a noontime show greatly deserves an objection. How many kids (young girls especially) have learned to dance the "Spaghetti Song" doing the Sexbomb moves (becoming Sexbom Copycats)? Now, how many kids are already learning to dance "Itaktak Mo" the EB Babe way?

I wouldn't be surprised to see group of young girls challenging each other for a dance showdown (similar to Sexbom vs. EB Babe Showdown). But it is something I'm afraid to see.

I guess, parents wouldn't want to hear something like this from their kids:

Mother: What would you like to be when you grow up?
Kid: I'd like to become a Sexbomb Dancer (or EB Babe) when I grow up.

Exposing our children to such scenes may lead to improper perspectives of life. We don't want our children to limit their dreams to becoming sexy dancers.

If you weren't able to watch the showdown, video is attached below. Tell me what you think. Is this kind of showdown apt for a noontime show? Super Nada!

Tonight on Totoo TV... Ooops Mali

The title of this post should have been "Last Week on Totoo TV." I sent a text message to my friend who works for ABC-5 Totoo TV to inform her that I'm quite excited of the Behn Cervantes episode. She informed me that it was already featured last week and tonight's episode was "The Best of" instead. According to her, the commercial I saw could have been their regular TV Plug or "The Best Of" Plug.

Sorry for the wrong information. But if you've watched tonight's episode, I guess they also showed a bit of Mr. Behn's interview.

Among the public affairs show of ABC5, Totoo TV isn't among my favorites. But tonight, I will try my best to go home early to catch my former professor in a Literature Elective, Mr. Behn Cervantes (also a columnist), share his wit to Maverick and Ariel.

Ah, can't imagine Sir Behn being interviewed by Maverick and Ariel. I'm sure, tonight's episode will be funny and witty.
