Mysterious Conspiracy

After reading Marlon's latest entry (his Translation of Pablo Neruda's Sonnet XX to Filipino), I got excited to write a Valentine entry.

So here goes the pre-Valentine post with links to some love songs.

********

Knowing if a person is that special someone is a harmonious struggle between intuition and logic. Everything starts with inklings.

You suddenly feel an incomprehensible emotion telling you that there is something special – feelings that tell you of a certain understanding that can only be interpreted beyond words. The simple nearness of the person or even the idea of the existence of that person in your life gives you a certain sense of security. But all these make you a captive of emotions.

Realizing that you are contained in your emotions, you start reading between the lines. You try to argue to yourself: raise questions, provide answers, and raise questions yet again. It is an endless countering of what you feel versus reason. You try to make sense of intuition through reasoning. You try to figure out if the emotion is requited or if you are plainly in a state of wishful-thinking. You now become a prisoner of logic.

Finding out if someone is special may not be an easy endeavor. Being humans we are bound to suffer (or enjoy) the bitter-sweet effect of the duality of heart and mind. Things remain obscure if we don’t get past these stages of imprisonment.

I guess only when the heart and mind conspire, your mind (emptied of cobwebs) agrees to what your heart feels, can be the point of validation that you have finally found that special someone to spend your life with.

But if unfortunately things fail, you might end up singing this. Hehe!

Meanwhile, if you are somehow turning cloyed of your relationship, you might end up singing this.
