According to my aunt, at around two years old, I was already fascinated with Martin Nievera (She said I enjoyed watching Martin's show at SM North Entertainment Plaza then). I don't have a vivid memory that there was a point in my life that I actually liked Martin (I know I was fascinated with "Menudo" but Martin? Hindi kaya Ricky Martin?). Hmmm, except maybe for the fact that at three, "Be My Lady" is among the songs I was already singing (may pag-kalesbiana siguro talaga ako nung bata, kumanta raw ba ng "Be My Lady"?).
I just couldn't believe that I was a fan of Martin. Well, maybe he used to be a good singer. Or maybe my parents kept on playing his songs; that’s why I got fascinated (bad taste?) or got easily familiarized with his songs. But I must admit that "Ikaw ang lahat sa akin" is good and well-executed. Martin's strength is his ability to perform songs with deep emotions. And that's his weakness, too. He usually ends up with OA covers. Just like his version of Chicago's "Hard Habit to Break".

What emotions should the song communicate? Check the lyrics.
I think it should communicate angst, regret, a bit of anger (to one's self), and pain. Oh of course, you've to transmit the idea that you're addicted. All evident in Chicago's rendition I believe.
Don't you think Martin always sings as if he's mourning for a dead loved one? Okay this style is fine if he sings "Ikaw ang Lahat sa Akin" or "Kahit Isang Saglit."
Maybe his style is also a hard habit to break, too.
[Wala lang. Trip ko lang mang-bash. Kasi naman, parati ko iyang na-aabutang pinapatugtog pag-sumasakay ako ng bus.]
