Bakulaw at Buwaya

With the recent tragic experience, I’ve a lot of realizations. And one of which is the fact that for most people working in the public sector do not really know public service and really not into the ideals of public service. For people who now me, you know that I’m never privy to any gray transactions like paying for fixers etc. I hate all officials who are after asking out for money in return of a job-well-done.

So some MMDA officials assisted us in the hospital. My mother was too freaking out that she asked the MMDA not to leave until my uncle arrives. In the first place, they couldn’t leave us yet as they have to wait for the police and for updates on the condition of the accident victims. And I think they should’ve offered that help too. Before that actually, as a show of gratitude, my cousin and my mom brought them to Jollibee for dinner. I was left in the hospital (Fuck, how can you manage to eat when you know two lives are in danger. Anyway that’s not the issue).

When the things in the hospital were almost set, my cousin approached me and told me to give something to the MMDA. If only I had a box of cake (which I actually had in the car but I forgot) and packs of cigarette, these were the thing I’d give them. Heck, I was forced to give a bit amount. I gave my cousin 200 pesos. But when he gave it to the MMDA, I saw the MMDA gave the money to the lady MMDA and told her to go. Of course, I expected that this MMDA guy would still ask for something. The two MMDA (guys) approached us and told us they were going. Anak ng bakulaw. Mga apat na beses siyang nagpaalam at nagsabi ng pangalan niya. Alam mong may hinihintay. Sabi ko tuloy sa nanay ko, bigyan mo na nga iyan. I don’t get it. Isn’t it their responsibility to assist us? And, they shouldn’t be asking out for money.

And that goes the same for the police officials. Ugly people fuck them all. While they were all nice and accommodating, halos lahat sila’y mukhang pera. My, oh, my! Ang hirap ikwento dito pero but in a brief, they were trying to get money from both parties. Nagpapapogi sila sa parehong parties so that we will feel we have something to be thankful for from them. But isn’t it their responsibility to do their work? They are in the public service. They are policemen. Tangina!

Can we still change this country with this apparent culture of corruption? Bakulaw kayong lahat. Rewards shouldn’t be asked for.

sue the policemen who you never extended bribe to for the sake of showing them what is right. but dont sue the MMDA personnel, they'll sue you back :)
