If you're an expert in a field or if you've an interesting and quite extraordinary story, there's a greater chance that you'd be a subject for an interview or even a study. For her Sociology of Gender class (in graduate school),my dear friend asked me to participate as one of the subjects of her study. Her study is on ladies of early and late 20's who aren't in a relationship and never been into any relationship at all. Well, about No Boyfriend Since Birth (NBSB). Honestly, I really don't prefer to use that word (ah, labeling).
With permission from my friend, I'm posting excerpts from her interviews. I'll post my perspective on this issue soon. You might want to guess who am I among the girls (may premyo kapag tama, haha, seryoso ko, haha).
Other people's view of those who never had a boyfriend
Other poeple's perennial questions (suggestions) to them
What do they have to say about their situation?
Person A:I can maximize my time and life to do the things I want, go out of town/country, try out different adventures (benefits). I don’t know the experience of what actually is to have a partner (drawback). Person B: ok lang, hindi masama Person C: non-issue Person D: okay lang, no pressure.
How do they view courtship?
Person A: Courting a guy is not yet accepted by other guys, it will boost the guy’s ego; a woman can be vulnerable to be abused Person B: Dalagang Pilipina; hate innuendos Person C: I have to be proactive about it; dress up for myself and partly for the guys but not so much with make-up.
What to them is an ideal partner or relationship?
Person A: learner and mentor type of relationship Person B: idealistic; I’m not a half that needs another half (fulfilled from the love of family and friends); believe in a long –term relationship; have learned from the stories of her friends; should know the guy well before entering into a relationship Person C: I’m a strong believer of relationships and families; somebody to share your joys, sadness, dreams, frustrations, and so on Person D: same as my mother, my father really takes care of her, but instead of turning out to be dependent on him, she’s still independent, everything is done for her like as simple as paying for meals; feeling like a queen but you won’t feel beholden to the guy.

Other poeple's perennial questions (suggestions) to them
Wala pa bang nanliligaw sa’yo?; Kailan ka mag-aasawa?; Kailan mo ba ko bibigyan ng apo?; reto, set-up, and group dates
