I’ve always hated Willy Revillame. Whenever I catch anyone watching his noontime show at home, I order them to change the channel. I simply don’t have a respect for that man. I don’t know. Seeing him irritates me a lot. On the other hand, I really have high regard for people in Eat Bulaga (except maybe for Tito). At the same time, I grew up watching that show.
“Parinigan” has always been part of the game (from Salo-Salo Together (alam niyo pa ba ito?), ‘Sang Linggo na po sila, MTB, then now Wowowee). Nothing’s bad with “pagpaparinig” unless if it has become “pambabastos.”
The real issue between Joey and Willy is not the ‘parinigan’, but the ‘pandaraya.’ Of course, given that Eat Bulaga is its competitor, it will take advantage of the situation. The only problem with the quest for 'truth' is the seeming "pa-effect" of both camps. (Panalo nga lang si Joey dahil intelehente siya kaysa kay Willy na madrama).
The video on Youtube is already enough evidence for people to question the discrepancy in that episode of Wowowee (kumbaga, masyadong lantaran). If this thing didn't blow up, would people even think that there are really different kinds of cheating happening in game shows?
There was an episode of Wowowee where I saw my cousin playing in one game. Contestants to the game should be families. To my surprise, she was with three kids (of course introduced as her children) but as far as I know, these kids were never her children. Then I found out that they had some arrangements with the production crew.
And the REAL ISSUE for Filipinos:
Noontime shows have caused false hope and instilled a culture of dependence to some Filipinos. The primary mission of any noontime show is to entertain. But apparently, it's not the case in the Philippines. A lot of poor Filipino families are now captives of these shows believing that participating to contests of these shows can help them survive their daily struggles or even make them one-time-big-time millionaires.
It's quite disheartening to see a lot of people whose lives have become dependent on the promises of these shows. Instead of seeing them waking-up early and working (or even looking for work), there they are 'trying their luck' by falling in line there in Broadway or in ABS.
