By Dennis Marasigan via Gibbs Cadiz's Blog: "Tanghalang Pilipino's production of INSIANG was first staged in 2002, featuring Ricky Davao and Malu de Guzman, with Sheenly Vee Gener as Insiang. The production won Aliw Awards for Best Play, Best Direction, and Best Actor and Actress (Ricky and Malu.) For the performances this October, Ricky returns with Sheenly, with Mailes Kanapi taking over the role of Pacing. The playscript by Mario O'Hara is based on his screenplay, but it adds layers to the material that were not and could not be in the film."
