When I opened my Friendster account a while ago, I got a bit confused.
Friendster's Interface (My apologies to friends whose pictures were captured.)

Why are there lots of thumbnail pictures (those placed on both sides of the page) on the page ? Have Friendster tweaked its interface again? After several look-pause-think-look, I've realized that it had something to do with an advertisement. How can I forget that Friendster has been utilized as an avenue for online ads (given that a lot of Filipinos have Friendster account).
The is about Smart's (Smart na naman?) newest 3G mobile video community that encourages meeting friends online via speed-dating.

I've heard and read (mainly ads) a lot about speed-dating but I didn't care that much to know more about this thing. Now that it has become a popular event (thus, a money-making venture), I've become interested in knowing other people's reason for joining such event.
Apparently, the main purpose why anyone would join a speed-dating activity is to hopefully meet that person who can be romantically interesting. Can you actually meet that person in such kind of activity? And more importantly, do you even have to pay just to find that person?
Blind dates and "Retos" are forgivable. But speed-dating doesn't make sense to me. The world is already small for us to find Mr. /Ms. Right.

Speed dating was started by a rabbi in the US who wanted a quick way for Jewish singles to meet other Jewish singles.
Yeah, I've read about that. Speed dating makes sense to them because of their perspective on marriage. Of course this will also make sense to anyone believing that life isn't complete without a husband/wife.
Speed dating is somehow modifying Filipino's (specially among the teens)view of romantic relationship. I'm not sure if this is something good or bad though.
