Gatronomy 101

French Moment

Had a chance to attend An Afternoon of French Gastronomy with CCA (part of French Spring in Manila) last July 7. It was the first time I've watched a live cooking show. I was very much amazed with CCA's facility - imagine a mini-theater type room with kitchen (world-class facility) as its stage. Watching a live cooking demo will always remind 80's kids of the 80's/90's cooking show - Wok with Yan.

If you (or anyone you know) are planning a culinary career, I think CCA is a good school. Even if the tuition is highly priced (which is common in any culinary school I believe), facilities are great and not to mention, the teachers are also great (based from my observations during the cooking demo). For more information about CCA, check its website.

Turning Japanese

I've always been fascinated with Japanese Food (regardless if I'm prone to allergies). Last year, I fell in love with Zango (it was first and last visit). Now, my latest Jap discovery is Bubble Tea. Actually, Bubble Tea (the drink) did not really originate from Japan but in Taiwan. However, a Japanese show helped raised its popularity(via Wikipedia).

Bubble Tea (the restaurant) offers not just the drink alone but it also offers several interestingly tweaked Japanese cuisines. Like for example, for non-rice eaters, you will definitely enjoy its Tonkatsu Sandwich.

Bubble Tea has branches at SM the Block and SM Mega A. Although, I find the branch at the Block more comfy. It's a good place for anyone who'd like to spend a quiet time alone-outside your room (at least for now that the SM the Block branch is pretty new), while enjoying a good book and gratifying your stomach at the same time.
