The perfect way to defend the current craze for Bossa Nova, "It's not fad. It's actually about rediscovering the genre."
Perfect explanation coming from a Bossa Singer. Sitti set the current trend for Bossa Nova Craze in the country. To be fair with her, she really sings Bossa Nova well. We've to thank her for making younger generations become aware and even appreciate the genre. The problem however lies on the idea of making bossa not as a form of rediscovery and introduction (to younger generations), but in making it a freaking fad.
It could have been better if the current craze is able to inspire singers to create original songs than simply doing Bossa renditions of songs. It's fine to do revivals except but listening to same songs over and over is quite annoying. Plus, it's also irritating to observe singers going gaga in coming out with bossa album.
Like for example, Six Cycle Mind's rendition of Prinsesa didn't give justice both to the original version (I think) and to bossa as genre.

Ang perfect sanang mag-cover ng "Prinsesa" Sugarfree. They've gotten the wall of sound down pat and Ebe sounds way better than Glenn.
I agree. Medyo 'sabog'ang boses nung sa 6 Cycle. Di bagay sa Bossa Nova (not soothing).
