GUNS FOR WOMEN

Nothing’s wrong with making women learn how to use a gun. Personally, I’ve long been dreaming of getting a gun. Yet, it’s not for the purpose of protection. I want a gun because I want to try target -shooting as a sports.

Those who are encouraging women to own a gun for protection seem not to understand the real essence of preventing harm. Yes, it is true that guns/armaments are intended for protection. However, teaching women how to use a gun and encouraging them to bring along a gun with them anywhere they go don’t automatically prevent harm.

If you own a gun and know how to use it, do you think it can deter a criminal act. Oh well, contrary, more than deterring crime, owning a gun (bringing it along with you everyday) even heightens the possibility of crime. It’s like teaching everyone that the only way to protect ourselves is by having an armament.

Encouraging women to own a gun even creates a notion that women are weak. If it’s for so-called protection purpose, why not campaign for GUNS FOR EVERYONE?

This won’t do us any good at all.

We should campaign for a better police system and criminal justice system if we want everyone to be protected. There’s nothing wrong in learning how to defend our selves. But, we cannot be abuse the idea of protecting ourselves by bringing along guns with us.

I am still considering the idea of getting a gun for target-shooting purposes (as a sports and hobby). Yet, I will never get a gun to be my guide and protection.

If you bring out a gun, you have to be ready to shoot and probably kill someone. If your mindset isn't "it's either me or him," then a gun is more of a liability.

Of course the "it's either me or him" mentality by itself contributes to mayhem. :)

Naalala ko tuloy...

My dad's handling a COA case - in a section of the military (should i be devulging this?)

A friend was offering him an armalite for protection daw. I told him, not an armalite can protect him.The more they know he's armed, the more he's vulnerable from attack.

Yun nga lang, sayang iyong armalite - for collection purpose. lol ;-)

Unless nakasabit sa likod niya yun (a la Rambo), an Armalite won't be too useful for protection. A handgun is better. A bodyguard would be best.

Yeah, I agree. Having a bodyguard is the best. Yet, I don't want to see my father with a a bodyguard -- feeling VIP at mayaman naman hehehe

That's the consequence of being straight of your responsibility in the government (But something worth to be proud of).
