AMAZING WOMEN
In my almost 23 years of existence, I’ve met/read about/ heard about a lot of people, from whom I’ve learned many things about life. But of course, there will be those people I’d always remember. They are the people who really made an impression to me.
I’ll name some of the women I met or even worked with who really had a great impact in my existence (in various ways).
Miss Joy Aceron
She’s not selfish in sharing her intelligence to other people. Your nose will bleed with all her discussions of political theories. I would never forget this person who’s shared a lot of things that inspired me to take another side of life. Introduced me more than just the concept of socialism (Yet, when can we achieve that socialist dream).
Prof. Nikki Briones
Even if she was just a substitute professor to us in one subject, with the days under her supervision, she really made an impression to me.
She’s a proof that Lasallians are also intelligent contrary to other’s perception that we are bobo (as the cheer goes, BO-BO BO-BO La Salle). She’s a wonder girl – knowing what International Law and Politics is about, teaching college at a very young age (25-something), and finishing her Master’s at a young age. Evidently, she’s an overachiever.
I admire her for her passion of sharing her knowledge to other people. She’s a complete inspiration for every student to strive for the best. Ms. Briones – a student leader, debater, professor. No wonder, students would be encouraged to be at their best whenever they hear from Miss Nikki.
What’s more? Aside from being intelligent, she’s also pretty.
Beauty and Brains!
Prof. Kate Mirandilla
Another person who epitomizes beauty and brains is Prof. Kate. Her beauty and intelligence are unquestionable. Imagine, at 27, she’s already handling M.A. classes in UP. Some of her students are older than her.
I admire her for being well-rounded. She’s very well equipped in entertainment research and at the same time, she’s also an achiever academician – finished her M.A. in NUS as a scholar.
Oh, and she’s really inspiring and amazing that even if she’s in the academe (where mostly people are old and serious), she never forgets she’s still young. She manages to go on a gimmick with her students (former students).
Meeting people like Prof. Nikki and Prof. Kate heightens my dream of venturing in the academe. They are my movers in trying to finish my Master’s despite the demanding work. Yet, they’re achievements make me feel that I am still under-qualified to be in working in the academe. I’ve yet to take exert more effort. They are overly intelligent and I am just an average thinker.
Rep. Risa Ontiveros-Baraquel
Still Beauty and Brains!
Who wouldn’t be familiar of pretty face in every rally? She’s an epitome that an Atenean is really man for others. In spite of a possible good career in the media (like her sister), she chose to serve the country in a radical way. How can a very beautiful and wealthy girl choose representing the less-fortunate instead of trying to maintain a good status in the society?
Prof. Elena Pernia
(to be continued – still completing my list)

Hi, thanks for the nice words written about me. Something that keeps me going with my passion to teach. Coming across your blog today and finding my name on it is such a pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Kate Mirandilla
and one more thing, when it comes to our passion (regardless of its nature), there's no such thing as an "under qualified" or "average thinkers". at the end of the day, we do what keeps us getting up the next morning knowing that we just want to do it all over again, but perhaps better.
Own your passion, and as one of those saying goes: 'lose the smokes but keep the fire'.

Gah, I'm still in shock! Kate Mirandilla posting comment in my blog! :-)Thanks for the wonderful pieces of advice.People like you really inspire a lot of dreamers.
Oh, and I've to correct it should be Nanyang and not NUS right? I've heard you're in Australia already for PhD. Good Luck Miss Kate! All the best!
