What Role Should They Assume?

It's confusing!

If you're a guy homosexual (cross-dresser or evident gay) or a girl homosexual (apparent lesbian) and you're to ride the LRT or MRT, would you ride the exclusive train for elderly, children, and women; or would you rather stay at the normal trail?

I really don't know what to feel whenever I encounter homosexuals (either gay or lesbian) staying at the exclusive train of the LRT or MRT. Isn't that Lesbians would want to assume men's role? If then, why do I still encounter lesbians riding the exclusive trail? Aren't they supposed to stay in the normal trail instead? On the other hand, we can't still deny the reality that they are biologically women. So, they are still prone to harassment. But can't they be harassing too (i.e. when the train is jam-packed)?

It is also often that I encounter gays riding the exclusive train. Again, I don’t know what to feel. Obviously, they are still guys – possessing all the power and energy that any guy could exert. In short, they are not women! Yet, prohibiting them at the exclusive train may mean possible harassment – if they will be joining the men in the other train (Harassment could mean 2: Guys could harass them or vice-versa).

So what now? Should I raise eyebrow seeing them stay at the exclusive trail?

With the growing number of homosexuals, there’s a creation of a new role in the society. Homosexuals can neither play as women or men. I guess everything is a matter of differentiating vis-à-vis identifying their roles and accepting that they also have rights that should be respected and dignity to be protected.

P. S.

Ang hirap siguro talagang maging bading or tomboy.

I'd rather have gay men in the exclusive cars. It's not about protecting them, it's about protecting us. :)

homophobic dude? ;-) If that's the case, lesbians shouldn't stay in the exclusive area.

Ngayon ko lang naisip yang concern na yan tungkol sa tren... hmmm... good point! Pero ayun nga, mahirap nga siguro talagang maging bakla o tomboy sa isang gender-based na lipunan. ^_^

missingpoints: Now I understand why guys have (like you who've experienced harassment) to be cautious of gays' presence or to have phobia with gays. Maybe, I can understand that fear in another perspective -- the feeling of girls whenever we are joined in a crowded train by men. Oh well, I've been harassed several times (intentionally or accidentally) back in college when there was no exclusive area yet-LRT.But, I will never know how it feels to be harassed and get sexual proposals from people of same gender. Now I understand, why you'd rather have them in our area -- they won't harass us anyway (they'll just clog nga lang the area).
