Organs for Sale

What's wrong with trading organs?

Isn't it that we encourage donation? But why is selling organs bad?

It's still an economic activity (just like prostitution), right? Those who traded his/her organ in exchange of money may be simply constrained because they need money. But then again, it's still a personal decision: consented. It think regulation is more apt than totally banning the trade. Some thoughts:

1. Set rates as to how much an organ should cost. ORGAN COST + MAINTENANCE.
The amount should be equal to the cost to the lifestyle of someone living with just a single kidney for example. One would need regular check-up and a more strict diet to ensure that he/she will be able to sustain a living even with just a single kidney.

2. Have a "bank" of sorts wherein people can legally sell their organs thus avoiding trading among middle persons who are taking advantage of the constrained individuals. Just like the "Blood Bank."

3. Ensure that each person who sells his/her organ is REALLY healthy for the operations. That he/she can survive the operation and the post operations effect.

4. Make sure that each individual who plans to sell his/her organ should be well educated of the activity he/she is venturing into. Aside from that, there should be a session with a psychologist, too.

Sige kayo, kapag binawal ang pagbebenta baka magkatotoo at dumami iyong mga nangingidnap at nangdedekwat ng organs. Siyempre, biro lang.

Seriously, it's still a trade. What's important is that each person who ventures into this knows the cost and consequences. Of course, it is also necessary to make sure that these individuals are not being taken advantage of.
