American Dream

Have you ever imagined yourself leaving the country and stay abroad for good?

Not me. I really can't imagine myself living in another country for the rest of my life. Honestly, just the thought of detaching from my home may already mean a higher level of conditioning. What more transferring to another country? But there are a lot of Filipinos who do; living that American Dream. Well, actually not just American even Canadian, etc (name all the countries that accept migrants). It's not just about having work abroad but really staying there for good. Being an OFW is understandable. People work in another country to earn quite higher to save and probably invest.

Anyhow, this morning I attended a press conference of a US Immigration Lawyer. He offers free consultancy services to Filipinos who are interested to migrate in the United States (at least the consultancy is free). He provides tips as to the easiest way to get to the States (depending on your status/profession). While it's a good thing that Pinoys have that option than just risking their luck abroad (probably a cheaper way than hiring a more popular US Immigration Lawyer), I still just hate the idea that it appears to me as a form of encouragement for more people to leave the country for good.

With that free consultancy thingy, I'm sure a lot more Filipinos will try their luck. Actually, last weekend when the lawyer had a radio interview her marketing person received a lot of calls/inquiry for consultation.
