Pondering about “virtual self”, face-to-face vs. computer-aided communication, and split-personality caused by modes of communication I stumbled upon this site. I just noticed the picture.
Ah, once in my life, I actually had a chatbot! I wonder where is it now.
But the “virtual-self” I’m thinking of is not really that one mentioned in the article. Because of our exposure to technology (we talk to friends and clients through instant messaging, text messaging; more and more our face-to-face interactions are limited), thus we are already creating a “virtual self.” The question is, “how different are we from our ‘virtual self’ to the ‘real-self’ (when we interact face-to-face)? Which is more sincere?
(More about this soon; still researching and thinking).
