"Skin-Deep"

Been wondering when will I be able to see Bituin Escalente perform on stage, in a musical play in particular (never got the chance to watch her in any musical). Well, the wait is over. She's part of the upcoming production of PETA,"Skin-Deep."

From Gibbs Cadiz's Blog:

The Philippine Educational Theater Association welcomes 2008 with Vincent de Jesus' "Skin-Deep," the third offering of its 40th Season.

Doctor Beau Batoctol, an internationally famous Filipino cosmetic surgeon opens the world's first one-stop beauty resort in the Philippines, the Skin Deep Beauty Sanctuary. For its grand opening promo, seven lucky texters will win a chance to stay at Skin-Deep for a month and avail of all the beauty treatments, procedures and surgeries it has to offer, all for free.

The Lucky Makeover Seven--an obese female call-center agent, a troubled married couple, a male model wannabe, a flamboyant florist, an abused housewife burned beyond recognition and the reigning Miss Artificial Beauty--go through different miracle procedures hoping to become more aesthetically acceptable to the cruel world outside.

"Skin-Deep," directed by Nor Domingo with music by Lucien Letaba and arranged by Melvin Corpin, features some of today's most admired theater actors: Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, May Bayot-de Castro, Bituin Escalante, Melvin Lee, Rem Zamora, Phil Noble, Gail Guanlao-Billones, Mary Ann Espinosa, Al Gatmaitan, Glecy Atienza, Diana Malahay, Joel Molina, Onyl Torres, Delphine Buencamino, Neomi Tabanao-Gonzales, Joan Bugcat, Eric dela Cruz and Eric Bisa.

Choreography is by Christine Crame-Santillan, costume design by Kalila Aguiluz, lighting design by Jonjon Villareal and production design by Leo Abaya.

"Skin-Deep" goes onstage at the PETA-Phinma Theater on all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from February 1 to March 9, 2008. The PETA Theater Center is located at #5 Eymard Drive, New Manila, Quezon City. Tickets are at P300 each.

For details and other inquiries, call the PETA Marketing and Public Relations Office at 7256244, 4100821, mobile numbers 0917-8154567 or 0918-9354166, email petampro@yahoo.com or mpr@petatheater.com. Schedules are subject to change without prior notice.

Reasons why you should watch the play:

(1) The Cast: Isay Alvarez -- May Bayot -- Robert Sena -- Bituin Escalante in one musical! Don't you think that'll be great?
(2) Libretto and Lyrics by Vince De Jesus: Who doesn't know ZZZ?
(3) Pretty interesting story.
(4) Ticket price is CHEAP: P300.

Oh and if you think it's hard to go to PETA Theater Center, it's not. In fact, it's very accessible; just one PUJ ride from Cubao (though you've to walk a bit).
