Carlo Jose, Juan Miguel, Maria Theresa, Maria Katrina, & etc.
Most of our parents are guilty of giving us double name. Maybe during those days, naming your child that way was a hit (maybe even now?). And honestly, giving a child a double name is cute – it can probably be unique or simply artistic. But sometimes, it’s hard to have double name. Well, especially when your nickname is neither of those two names.
I have double name simply because my parents were obsessed of combining their names for their first kid Carlito+Edelza = Carla Edeliza (of course, the pattern "CE" was carried to my siblings, lahat kami CEMV ang initials). Unfortunately (well, fortunately), my nickname is neither of those two names. Such creates more confusions actually (e.g. receiving phone calls at work, bank transactions).
- When I was working as a Student Assistant, I had a hard time encashing my first pay check as the check lacked the 2nd part of my name.
- When I claimed my last pay from a company, again the check lacked the 2nd part of my name. The bank had to call the HR just so to confirm.
- Eto'ng malupit, when I got a check from one of my rackets, it contained my nickname. Lalong hindi ko agad napa-encash.
It seems that giving double name might become complicated in the future. Kailangan parati silang magkakabit.
Now that I'm more used to using my nickname, I tend not to react whenever I hear someone calling out "Carla". Oh, and don't even call me with the 2nd part of my name.
