Remember those days when the guard in your school will check on your socks, shoes, and uniform? Remember those days when your teacher will assign a leader to check and list down the noisy people in class? Remember those times when you were not allowed to go out of the campus during lunch break?
Yes, I'm talking about those grade school (even high school) years. Ah, the company where I currently work is reliving similar policy. Would you believe that? Imagine, if we go out of the factory premises minutes earlier than 12nn, guards were instructed list down names of the people who went out of the office before the factory bell rang. Puñeta, parang grade school talga. Tipong naglilista ng noisy at kung sino ang nag-skip sa mga cleaners.
Did the company even think of noting how many times its employee went ot the office earlier than 8am (without asking for extra charge or OT for that matter)? It's funny and disheartening that such kind of policy reflects the backward thinking of the company. I'm not sure if they'd even equate that policy to ensuring productivity in the office. But I just find it useless for officeworkers (maybe for factory workers it is apt as they have production deadlines each day at iba talaga ang takbo sa factory).
Does the company even recognize those occasions where some employees had to have late lunch or even skipped lunch to finish their deadlines? So what's wrong in having lunch 5 or 10 minutes earlier than 12nn?
So when the guard aksed my name (dahil nga lumabas ako 5 mins earlier, nagugutom na ako), I freely reached out my ID to him. Anyway, I'm leaving the company by the end of July. But even if I'm not leaving, I'd do the same thing. I can still freely give my name to the guard and wouldn't be afraid of going out 5 minutes earlier than the time (lalo na kung gutom ako).
