The Tanghalang Pilipino's 21st Season is loaded with very interesting and thought-provoking line-up. Having power & politics as this season's theme, TP's line-up is something I really look forward to watching.
As a lover of theater, I think I'm subscribing to TP's 21st Season.

Opening the season is the new production of the landmark sarswela set in the period prior to the national elections in 1907. PILIPINAS CIRCA 1907 is about political conflict and family relations getting in the way of two pairs of star-crossed lovers when America was more in the heart. This production caters to all ages and persuasions, but more specifically for music theater enthusiasts and students of Philippine history, literature, political science and humanities. With libretto by Nicanor Tiongson, music by Lutgardo Labad, Louie Pascasio, Chino Toledo, et al, and to be directed by Dennis Marasigan, the sarswela runs at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino from August 10 to September 2, 2007.
From September 14 to October 7, 2007, at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino, children and young people of all ages will be treated to spectacle and innovative staging. MULAN, a new musical which tells of wars fought not just by men but between the gods, fuses martial arts and traditions. Award-winning playwright Rody Vera writes the script based on the original story, with music by Jude Edgard Balsamo and direction by Dennis Marasigan.
KUDETA is a wickedly funny play about a coup that topples the country's President and how he fights back with all the weapons he has in his disposal - his enemies' uncanny ability to self-destruct, and descendants who come out of nowhere. Is this the Philippines? Mustapha Matura's play ensures delightful viewing for all, specially theater enthusiasts, students of social sciences and history, and cause-oriented groups and organizations, plus those in the military establishment and government. With translation by George De Jesus III and direction by Floy Quintos, the production runs at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute From January 11 to February 3, 2008.
For a climactic season ender, Peque Gallaga's "operatic" film set in Negros is transformed into a poignant and unforgettable musical production. ORO PLATA MATA, THE MUSICAL tells the story of how boys become men amidst the turbulent years of the Pacific War. Peque Gallaga himself directs this adaptation of his masterpiece which will surely capture theater, music and film enthusiasts alike, as well as the general public, including young professionals, members of socio-civic and corporate foundations and community organizations. With libretto by Chris Millado and Dwight Gaston, the production runs from February 8 to March 10, 2008 at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino.
