Random Thoughts: Being a Freelance Whatnot

  1. It's good to work on a freelance basis. Technically, you can somehow have a 75% hold of your time. Well, only 75% because assignments arrive on an erratic scheme. Sometimes, you receive assignments past office hours. And knowing that you’re working from home, “bosses” could be too demanding.
  2. It's good to be working on freelance because you could go places and events (not part of work) on a daytime of a weekday. But sometimes, working freelance also hurdles you to enjoy weekend or weeknights because of coverage or client meetings.
  3. Another not-so-good thing about working freelance is the idea that there’s less stability of sorts. Unlike if you're working for a company, you’re always assured of a monthly salary. Unlike for freelance, you would find your self either super rich for a certain month and quite poor for next month.
  4. I am not sure about this idea but it is possible that working freelance may limit your exposure to the world. Meaning, it limits you to meet people that may serve as mentors. It limits you to meet people whom you can share your experiences with, people whom you could also mentor. Aside from that, there’s also less exposure for trainings. Well, you’ve to fund your own training.
  5. Maybe it’s not yet time for me to have this type of work status. I’ve yet to experience a lot of things under a regular employment. I would have to hone my skills as an employee for me to be able to sort of “make a name” in the industry. Only then I could go freelance (with more clients as I am more experienced) or if I’d be lucky enough, I may even have my own business.
  6. Oh and freelance work is not quite apt for me as I need to save more. I need to save so I could invest in a lot of things. I guess I can only do that if I have a regular job – as an employee with good salary.
  7. Best choice for the coming year: Regular Job + Freelance Rackets :-)
