Not Apt #1
I understand that anyone who died due to violence deserves justice. The move of the congress to gather big amount of reward money to anyone who could provide definite information on the crime against Cong. Bersamin shows the concern of the members of the house. I believe JDV even obliged each member to donate 5,000 pesos.
There's actually nothing wrong in helping a colleague to obtain justice. I'm actually just wondering if the Congress did a similar thing for those Filipinos who've been left devastated by the recent typhoons. Like Cong. Bersamin, they also deserve justice.
If some congressmen of the affected districts allocated funds for the typhoon victims, other congressmen should have ventured into donating a certain amount as well.

Economic development is among the priorities of the current administration (well, any administration). It's understandable that it would engage and venture into businesses that may bring better revenues for the country. However, it is also expected that while venturing into various businesses, the government should also be sensitive on the present demands of the people.
Last night, I watched Reporter's Notebook feature on Cebu International Convention Center. I guess the money spent for the establishment of the convention center and the beautification of the adjacent areas simply not apt. It's just too much.
Prof. Briones of UP-NCPAG was interviewed for the episode. I must agree that the money used for the CICC and beautification program (for the ASEAN) should have been allocated instead to those who've been affected by the different recent disasters.
Aside from that, I guess the local government could have allocated funds for livelihood and housing. Adjacent to CICC is a squatters area. Just look at the injustice. The local government could have prioritized improving the lives of these people and not just painting their houseroofs red and green (for beautification purposes).
