Waiting on the World to Change

I am currently hooked to listening John Mayer’s new album, Continuum. I agree that it isn’t the type of album that could easily be liked upon hearing. You really have to listen deeply to the songs for you to appreciate the beautifully and intelligently written lyrics as well as the brilliant music.

One of Mayer’s songs in this album would really fit most of the young people’s feeling about the world. Waiting on the World to Change is a song that could fit those young people who are aware of the horrendous occurrences in the world today but who are having a hard time finding ways to fight for these apparent cruelties.

As for our case (Filipino Youth), we are in rage with the appalling political, economic, and social crisis confronting the country. Many may think that there are lots of indifferent/apathetic youth who aren’t joining movements to fight the atrocious government. But that couldn’t measure the awareness and even the concern of anyone.

“We just feel like we don’t have the means to rise above and beat it.”

Yes, most of us are helpless about the current situation of the country. We just simply blinded that we couldn’t see the best way to contribute in easing the problem. But we’re not hopeless, that’s why we keep….

… “Waiting on the world to Change.”

However, we couldn’t just keep on waiting forever. It’s good that we are aware and that we care about the predicament of our country. Yet, we can find ways to contribute (somehow) while we are waiting on the world to change.

It would be best while we are waiting on the world to change we’re contributing in a little way. There are still other ventures we can undertake.

Sounds too much like "Sexual Healing." Heck, the whole album sounds like John Mayer trying to become black.
