A post in PEX and yesterday’s episode reminded me that I need to write something about PI (ang panget ng acronym).
****************************************
It seems like the cliché, “dreaming is the only free thing on earth”, has totally received much abuse from most of Philippine Idol applicants.
Of course, I’ve nothing against those people who are striving to achieve their dreams. Everyone struggles to achieve our goals. But of course, possibilities and impossibilities must be weighed. If not, we might be placed in a very humiliating situation.
What do they look for in Philippine Idol? – A person who has talent in singing, a little dancing skills, speaking skills, someone who can compete globally, and someone who has the “huh” & “wow” factors.
I’ve a copy of the application form for the contest. If you’ve read the form, you’d somehow have the idea of who could qualify for the contest. Apparently, there are people, even if they’ve read the form and watched the AI and other similar contests, still had the nerve to audition beyond being incompetent.
Others think that these people fooling around are just hired. Contrary, these people aren’t hired to look stupid (in national television). These people enthusiastically applied. I’ve witnessed some of them during one fast-track auditions. PI production features “funny” segments for ratings purposes of course (aminin na natin lesser yung thrill nung show kung walang ganun).
I wonder where these people get the courage. I wonder if people around them (parents and friends) didn’t even warn them.
Nothing’s wrong with dreaming. However, everyone must realize (self-realization or realization with the help of other people) their skills and limitations. It doesn’t need much intelligence to know what you can do and what you cannot.
People must discern the border between dreaming and illusion.
